Energy Audits Available for Virginia Farms
Friday, April 2nd, 2010Southside and Southwest Virginia farmers know there are financial challenges related to farm energy use.
Energy audits and assessments may help a farm improve on energy efficiency, but energy savings are difficult to project until an assessment or an audit is completed. Energy audits use energy data collected and analyzed to determine projected savings for a particular farm.
Farms in Southside and Southwest Virginia now have three potential funding programs related to energy audits and energy efficiency upgrades available.
Farm operations located in the Tobacco Commission region interested in becoming more energy efficient (which will help save money!) are encouraged to discuss potential financial support for farm-based energy audits and energy improvements by contacting Dr. Martha Walker, Community Viability Specialist, at 434-766-6761 or walker53@vt.edu.
