Green Skills Grants Available

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

Grant money is available for projects providing training in green skills and/or create jobs that will use those skills, but partnerships will be key in qualifying for a new round of funding from the Dan River Region Collaborative.

The collaboration is a regional funding entity that includes the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region, the Danville Regional Foundation, the Harvest Foundation, the J.T.-Minnie Maude Charitable Trust and the Virginia Tobacco Commission.

The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region reviews the proposals submitted for the grants. Funding decisions are based on what the foundation calls “partnership readiness and response to the selection criteria” in its news release about the grant availability.

Green skills can cover a very wide range of possible job and training sectors, and can include fields in energy efficiency, renewable energy, biofuels, alternative transportation, recycling and agriculture.

The application deadline is February 10, 2010
