Yep, another scam email wormed it’s way into my email box. Again, I am impressed by the creativity, excellent grammar and spelling. I’m also touched by their generous offer to give me $500k for being victimized, while they so cleverly look for a way to take my money as a $155 service fee. Thanks guys!

I humbly write to solicit for your partnership and assistance in the transfer
and investment of USD$10,000,000.00 (Ten million united state dollars) which i
inherited from my late father who died mysteriously last year.

My late father made an agreement with the bank that i should have a direct
access to the fund only when i am 27 years of age otherwise, I should have a
guardian/partner intercede on my behalf for the release of the funds to me.
Unfortunately, he died late last year and I am 21 years of age currently. this

Energy Assistance helps low-income South Dakotans pay for home heating costs. Keep in mind, energy assistance may not pay for all of your home heating cost.

Eligibility:

you must apply
your total gross income may not exceed maximum income guidelines
you must be responsible for paying home heating costs

Energy assistance funds are distributed on a first-come basis. Eligibility and assistance amounts are based on the number of people in your home, income of everyone in your home, type and cost of heating and where you live. If you are eligible, the payment is made to your energy supplier.

Emergency Components (October 1 – March 31):

Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP). To qualify for ECIP energy assistance, the household must be income eligible and in a crisis, such as:

have a current disconnection notice for the primary heat source;
be cash-on-delivery, or refusal to deliver with less than 20% in tank; or

I get a lot of these PayPal phishing emails. They always tip me off as scams because I DON’T USE PAYPAL, so their pathetic attempt to scare me into clicking their link and submitting my PayPal account information is in vain. Ha ha!! Jerks.

Don’t fall for these. If you get any kind of email from “PayPal” claiming your account is restricted, or that a transaction will be clearing your account and they want to verify it, do not click the link contained in the email. If it really looks like a legitimate email, log into your PayPal account directly and look for a message from the company.

Sweepstakes Scam Strikes Again

There’s been another report of someone losing $5,000 in a sweepstakes scam. This one happened in Albany, New York.

The victim received a letter in the mail from “World Financial Group” telling her she’d won a $450,000 grand prize in the American Family Publishing Sweepstakes drawing.

The letter instructed her to cash an enclosed check of $4,896 and indicated the check would pay for the service tax on the grand prize. The victim deposited the check in her bank account, then withdrew the money again to make out two money orders as instructed on the letter.

Then, of course, as we’ve seen so often in these scams, the check she deposited from the company never cleared her bank. She lost the money she withdrew for the money orders. We’re warning you again – DO NOT deposit checks and then send out money orders as these letters instruct. Take the letter and the check to your nearest police department.

Wow, yet another scam e-mail. Why do I get so many of these? I could probably do a whole blog just with the “Scam of the Day”. Now these clever guys are pretending to be on the side of good and protecting me from the criminals with my supposed transfer of funds (which I never initiated or requested). But although I’ve been trying to work with criminals, according to their email, they’ll still gladly complete the funds transfer for me. Thanks guys!! The check is in the mail. Really.
