Financial Aid for College
Looking for financial aid for collegeā¦
and I feel as though I am drowning in useless information!
I have been accepted into an BS to BSN program, and need to fund not only the direct expense of college, but my living expenses while I am in school. I am currently unemployed, mom of 5 and would like to go back to school into a career that is not as limited as my current degree. I have been looking for stimulus money that everyone is talking about, but do not qualify for a pell-grant bc I already have a BS. This is an excellent nursing program, and while very select, it is also expensive. Any suggestions?

I’ve got some great resources for you:
First go to Scan Grants. They keep track of tons of award, grant and scholarship opportunities for nurses and you can subscribe to an ‘auto-notify’ email. And it’s free: http://www.scangrants.com/category/nursing-schools.aspx
The Health Resources and Services Administration has a list of financial aid (loans & scholarships: http://www.hrsa.gov/help/healthprofessions.htm
And the American Association of Colleges of Nursing also has a page with programs and alerts regarding grants and scholarships. http://www.aacn.nche.edu/Students/index.htm
Also, if you choose an area of specialization (pediatrics, oncology, etc) there are several very targeted scholarships toward these areas.
Best wishes to you!
