Need Grant to Convert Old Garage into Consignment Shop

I live in Atlantic, NC, Carteret County, Atlantic was a fishing community until regulations has shut down the fishing business here.  The local fish houses have closed and the fishing boats have been sold.  Men have had to leave the community to seek employment but most have found none in these hard times.  The only commercial business in town is a grocery/hardware store and we are afraid it will too be closed in near future.  Atlantic was left behind when the road to the ferries that carry thousands of tourist to the outer banks during the tourist season.  A bypass provided a shorter and quicker rout to ferries and Atlantic does not e from any of the tourist business like other towns do.

There are many talented and crafted people in Atlantic that need a way to sell their creations and collectables.  I have located a place out on Highway 70 where all traffic must pass to get to the Outer Banks.  It is an old garage that I want to convert into a consignment shop where the residents of Atlantic can either rent a booth to sell their wares or to place the items in the shop on consignment.  I along with several friends have already attempted to convert the structure into a shop but have run into many problems that can be expensive to repair. Most friends are like me, disabled and have very modest income that can not  support this project.

I will be 70 years old next month and have operated two consignment shops through the years, the last being 20 years ago.  I know that if we can get this project up and going it can support itself.  To complete the work and provide this service I need money to purchase a water pump to supply the shop with running water, money to stop a leak in roof and to build booths and exhibit tables and shelves.  The money is needed to purchase materials and a water pump.  The labor will be donated by friends and community members.  Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
