Heating Assistance Fund Available

Monday, October 26th, 2009

The Community Action Partnership of Lake County has announced the availability of heating assistance through the federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance in which low-income residents can apply for grant assistance to help pay for energy bills.

Beginning Nov. 1, low-income households, including those under imminent threat of disconnection, may apply. The priority period for heating assistance began last month for elderly and disabled applicants, along with disconnected households.

Applicants must pre-schedule appointments and applications will be taken through May 31, 2010 or until funding is exhausted.

LIHEAP also weatherizes homes, insulates attics and walls, and ensures heating systems are in good working order to make them more energy efficient.

To apply for assistance, call the Community Action Partnership at (847) 249-4330 to schedule an appointment or visit 1200 Glen Flora Ave, or visit their website to learn more about their other assistance programs.
