Help to Avoid Foreclosure

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

So many people are looking for help to avoid foreclosure these days.  It seems like the sad stories never end.  Where can someone go for help?  Obviously, there is the federal plan that everyone is talking about.  But there are other resources available to help you avoid foreclosure.

In Michigan, beginning July 12, there is a new program available called “Help for the Hardest Hit”.  If a Michigan homeowner is struggling to make their payments due to unemployment, this program will provide some assistance monthly, for up to 12 months or re-employment (whichever is shorter duration).  It is estimated that about 17,000 Michigan families will benefit.

If you are a Michigan resident interested in getting help through this program, you need to apply through your mortgage servicer.
