The University of South Dakota’s Department of Dental Hygiene is offering free fluoride varnishes and sealants to anyone 18 years and younger by appointment. A grant from the South Dakota Department of Health is making the dental screenings available. Sealants are a very effective way to protect teeth from cavities.

The Wyoming Department of Health offers “The Severe Crippling Malocclusion Program”. This program covers eligible children in need of orthodontic treatment (ages 12 – 18). Eligibility is dependent upon financial need as well as medical necessity. This program is designed to meet the orthodontic needs of children with severe handicapping conditions which clearly impact function.

I visited the Tennessee site (for donated dental services) and they are not receiving any applications as the wait is already very lengthy. Where can I go from here? My brother is an incomplete quadraplegic and has lost alot of his teeth. I’m sure he could get the rest pulled but has no money for dentures. Can you help?

The National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped offers a Donated Dental Services (DDS) program for individuals with special needs. Most states have their own contact information for this program, and that information can be found at the NFDH website here.
