Sustainable Agriculture in Hawaii
Aloha, I am seeking assistance to build a green house to feed my low income family fresh food with out paying outrageous island grocery prices. With as little a $500 in assistance, I would build the green house or with a $1000 gift I would build the green house, plant the garden beds, and install a homemade aquaponics system to grow talapia fish and prawns as well as generate free fertilizer for the entire garden for a lifetime. In the end the gift would provide my family with free food for life as we would practice seed saving and harvesting to create a self perpetuating garden. I live in Hawaii County, Hawaii aka the Big Island. Do you know of any garden grants for individuals not doing a community project? Or any food assistance programs that might be intriqued by my alternative approach to alleviating low income family health, wellness, and socioeconomic stress?
