Seminole County, Florida has several emergency grant programs to assist its residents. The hardship must have occurred a period of 90 days prior to the application. Availability of assistance depends on the amount of funds the county has available.
First Time Homebuyer Grants in Maine
The Maine State Housing Authority offers a first time home buyer’s program called the “Gift of Green.” The program provides a grant of $5,000, but no more than 4 percent of the loan amount. Additionally, there is a $500 weatherization coupon available.
Emergency Mortgage Payment Assistance
The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority offers assistance and services to homeowners facing foreclosure. They administrate an Emergency Mortgage Payment Assistance program. This program provides financial assistance for up to five years (wow!) for Connecticut homeowners who have received a foreclosure notice. There are other eligibility requirements so be sure to read their brochure carefully.

We’ve been looking for a long time and finally found a group that offers emergency financial assistance and grants for struggling homeowners! The Rainy Day Foundation’s goal is to create and maintain responsible homeownership. Through the administration of the Rainy Day Program, the Foundation has provided emergency support to homeowners that experienced financial challenges.
