Bellevue, Washington has a neighborhood grant program. The Neighborhood Match Program offers grants up to $5,000 for small neighborhood projects when matched by the community in cash, donated professional services, donated materials or volunteer labor. Examples of eligible projects include landscaping and signage for neighborhood entrances, landscaping traffic islands and city rights of way and public art.

From Jan. 1 to March 1, residents anywhere in the city can apply for Neighborhood Match funding for a project. The Program is funded at $50,000 per year.

Neighborhood Grants

The Small Sparks Fund provides awards up to $1,000 to support community members in becoming civically engaged. Projects can include neighborhood organizing, membership expansion or numerous other types of activities. All projects must demonstrate its capacity to build a stronger and healthier community, and must:

* Provide a public benefit and be free and open to all members of the public.
* Emphasize self-help, with project ideas initiated, planned and implemented by the neighbors and community members who will themselves be impacted by the project.
* Demonstrate community match.
* Occur within the Seattle city limits.

The Small Sparks Fund is open to formal and informal neighborhood and grassroots community groups with annual organizational budgets of less than $25,000. (If a group does not have a tax identification number, it must use a fiscal sponsor for funding requests more than $600.)

Applications are accepted year-round and must be received by the Neighborhood Matching Fund office at least six weeks prior to the start of the project. Applicants are notified of award decision within two weeks of application submission.

Home Repair Emergency Grant

King County, Washington has an emergency grant program for home repairs. This program provides grants for up to $3,000 for urgent or life-threatening home repairs. Emergency grants are not loans and do not have to be repaid.

Eligibility

Eligible homeowners are those who:

Own and live in the home they want to repair
Live in King County, outside the city limits of the City of Seattle and Normandy Park
Have an eligible household income level
Do not have assets that exceed $15,000, not counting the value of your home or vehicle

Grant for Emerging Documentary Filmmakers

The purpose of this program is to support emerging documentary filmmakers. The term “emerging” is intended to denote a person committed to the craft of making documentaries, who has demonstrated that commitment by several years.

The program is limited to organizations anywhere in the US, certified by the IRS as “public charities”, which undertake to supervise any project for which individuals receive funds, and to control the selection of individual recipients of funds. The fund does not provide support for endowments, building campaigns, accumulated deficits, or ordinary operating budgets, or make grants to individuals. The fund does not support instructional or performance documentaries or student film projects. Filmmakers are eligible for only one grant from the Pacific Pioneer Fund during their careers.

Grants to support filmmakers are limited to filmmakers or videographers who live and work in California, Oregon and Washington.

The board meets three times a year. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. The upcoming deadlines are 12/15/09, 04/15/10, and 08/15/10. Rejected applicants must wait one year to reapply.

Wishes Granted for Children with Life-Threatening Conditions

Children’s Wishes and Dreams grants wishes to children with life-threatening illness or a severe life-altering injury. Wishes can vary from trips, computers special exercise equipment, etc.

Qualifications for a Wish:
1. Child must be between 3 and 21 years of age.
2. Child must live in Yakima Valley, Walla Walla or Columbia Counties.
3. child must not have received a wish from any other wish granting organization.
4. Child’s doctor must confirm that the condition is life-threatening. In the case of a severe life-altering injury, the injury must be visible and created a life-threatening condition.
